Humans matter.
For uncertain times. When AI is changing everything, what carries us through is each other.
why this column
AI is changing work faster than most of us can take in. For a lot of people that doesn’t feel like progress. It feels like worry: about rent, about a career you spent years building, about what you’re for if a machine can do your job. If that’s you, you’re not overreacting, and you’re not alone.
We don’t have easy answers to the biggest questions, like who pays when jobs disappear. As far as we can see, nobody does yet. But we do know what helps people through hard, uncertain times, because the research on it is long and consistent: other people. Being listened to by someone who chose to give you their time. Friends who check in. Communities that look out for each other. Room to think about who you are when your job title has been shaken.
That’s what this column is about. It’s for anyone feeling anxious, lost or just unsure what AI means for the way we live and connect. Expect facts, trends, and tips to support yourself during turbulent times.
If you’re struggling right now, please talk to someone: your GP or doctor, a friend, or a helpline. In the UK and Ireland, Samaritans are free to call any time on 116 123.
Where Everconnected fits
Everconnected isn’t a crisis or mental health service. It’s for when you want to meet like-minded people, feel part of a community and have genuine conversations, one to one, by voice. No name or photo needed, and most Quests are free.
